How to send Google Photos to digital frames from a computer?

Linking photos from external sources like Google Photos or Facebook is referred to as web albums in the digital frame world. You need to make sure you have your Google Photos login information on hand. Head over to your frame’s web dashboard and find the “Web Albums” section.

Here you’ll find a list of all the supported web album platforms for the specific frame. Note that only a handful of premium digital frames like the Pix-Star offer web album support. It’s also worth noting that not all brands have access to the same platforms as each frame needs to have agreements in place with each supported platform – which isn’t an easy task.

Select “Google Photos” or the Google Photos icon and input your login information. You can log into several people’s accounts so long as they provide you with their usernames and password. Once you’ve logged into your desired account, select the photo albums or collections to sync to your frame. Click on the “Link to frame” or related option and the process will begin. This can take several minutes depending on the size and number of photos to be synced.

To link albums from this same account to other frames, log out of the current frame. In the same web dashboard, log into the desired frame. Once you’re in, simply repeat the above steps. If you’re using Pix-Star’s frames, you can control & manage up to 25 connected Pix-Star frames at the same time – from a single user account.

Do Google Photos digital frames need Wi-Fi & cloud?

If you want to link & sync Google Photos to your digital photo frame, Wi-Fi is a must, though cloud storage isn’t always a requirement. Cloud storage does have the added advantage of automatically saving the linked photos to the cloud and letting you centrally manage and edit this storage from anywhere in the world. It’s a great feature for families and is usually done through the frame’s web dashboard.

How many photos can Google Photos digital frames hold?

This depends on a couple of different factors. Firstly, the number of photos you can hold is dictated by the size of your Google Photos storage allotment. If you pay for additional storage, you’ll naturally be able to hold a lot more photos than if you were to use only the free storage allotment.

Secondly, you’re limited by the size of your frame’s internal storage. If your internal storage is 4GB, you can’t sync and view 8GB from your Google Photos account.
Finally, you’re limited by the size of your frame’s cloud storage. Some premium frames charge extra fees to expand or unlock cloud storage – so make sure you’re clear about the hidden costs before buying. Frames like the Pix-Star offer free-for-life cloud storage and don’t have any hidden or extra costs.

Can Google Photos digital frames play videos?

Google Photos frames aren’t designed to play videos – though some premium models like the Pix-Star do offer video support & playback. With Pix-Star, you can play video clips with a maximum length of 2 minutes and can even play the audio that comes with them. Pix-Star’s frames – like almost all digital frames – don’t support syncing videos through web albums. Instead, you can easily send video clips via the Pix-Star Snap mobile app to any of your frames. Pix-Star offers the ability to play these video clips in slideshows alongside photos and set them to play muted, or with their recorded sound, by default.
