What is a Google Photos digital frame?

A Google Photo digital frame is a Wi-Fi digital frame that lets you import directly from Google Photos to your frame. In some cases, these imported photos are saved to the frame’s internal storage. In others, the photos are saved to the company cloud servers, where your frame will sync them from when needed. This latter option is undesirable as you can’t access your synced photos while the frame is offline.

Traditionally, you’d need to manually download the photos from Google Photos to your computer or phone. You’d then need to send them to the frame by USB/SD card or through a supported mobile app. This adds is a couple of extra steps and removes any chance of automation.

Web album support is a key feature for any digital frame for the modern home and family. It’s especially practical for elderly users as they don’t need to be
Generally speaking, premium digital frames are the only frames that support importing photo albums (known as “web albums”) from external sources.

The best example of digital frames that support Google Photos is Pix-Star’s frame. They’re saved to internal storage, can be set to automatically update, and much more – but more on that in the section below!

Which is the best digital frame for Google Photos?

The Pix-Star digital frame is one of the best for importing photos from Google Photos. Pix-Star’s web album feature lets you import photos from external sources (like Google Photos) directly to the frame’s internal storage. Setting up these web albums is quick and simple via the web interface. It’s user-friendly and made to cater effortlessly to families and particularly to elderly users.

You can log into several Google Photos accounts, link multiple albums, and link the same albums to any/all of your Pix-Star frames. Pix-Star’s frames save all imported web albums to internal storage. this gives you offline access to all synced albums whereby you can manage them, start slideshows, or view them individually.

One of Pix-Star’s more unique features is the ability to set linked web albums to automatically update. When you add new photos to any linked account, they’re automatically synced and saved to all linked frames.

It’s the perfect way to automate photo-sharing for the whole family. Grandparents and all your loved ones can receive all the latest photos without having to lift a finger. Simply link all their frames to a single Google Photos account and drag & drop new photos. Pix-Star will take care of the rest.

Additionally, Pix-Star supports almost a dozen other external web album sources. These include Facebook, Instagram, Google Drive, Dropbox, Flickr, and even directly from your computer. Pix-Star offers the most robust, simple, and intuitive web album feature on the market.

Through the web interface, you can remotely start slideshows from specific web album sources on any linked Pix-Star frames. the whole process is geared to cater to families and those with elderly users that want to get involved with the rest of the family – but aren’t necessarily “tech-savvy”.

How to link Google Photos to Pix-Star’s digital frames?

Linking your Google Photos account to Pix-Star’s digital frames is quick and simple. It’s done through the web interface for your frame (which is accessed through the pix-star.com login portal). Once you’re inside your frame’s web dashboard, click on “Import external photos” under the “Web Albums” heading in the left-hand panel.

Select Google Photos from the list of icons. Input the login information for the account from which you want to import photos. Give it a second to load. Once it’s ready, you should see a list of all of the photo albums available on this Google Photos account.

To import a web album, click on “Click to link” on the right side of the display (for each album). The album will then be synced to your frame and saved to its internal storage. You can remotely start slideshows from synced web albums, access them offline, and start slideshows from them (even when the frame is offline).

Note that you can repeat this process for several Google Photos accounts. You can link the same account and album to several Pix-Star frames – no matter where you are in the world. Another unique Pix-Star feature is that linked web albums can be set to automatically sync when you add new photos. You simply need to link all the desired frames to the web album, drag and drop photos into it, and Pix-Star will take care of the rest!

Can I view my Google Photos while my digital frame is offline?

Pix-Star’s digital frames let you view linked & synced web albums from Google Photos while the frame is offline. This is because Pix-Star saves all synced web albums to internal storage. This grants offline access to view the contents of the web album, include them in slideshows, and more – without needing access to Wi-Fi.

Many other digital frames that offer Google Photos support hold the synced albums on the cloud server. This means you need to connect to Wi-Fi and the company cloud servers to sync and view web albums. It’s not ideal as you can’t store the web albums on the frame and can’t access them offline.

With Pix-Star’s frames, you can view and access all saved web albums via the “Media Library” from the frame’s home screen. You can choose which files and folders to include in slideshows, the order in which they must play, and much more. Pix-Star is rather unique with their offline access, which is why they’re one of the most popular digital frames with Google Photos support.

How many Google Photos can a digital frame hold?

Pix-Star’s digital frames can hold several thousand photos synced from Google Photos. Each of their frames has 8GB of internal storage. This is enough for anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 photos (depending on their resolution, format, size, and more).

Each of these linked web albums from Google Photos is automatically saved to the cloud. Since Pix-Star’s frames offer free-for-life cloud storage, you don’t need to worry about this allotted space filling up any time soon.

Additionally, Pix-Star’s frames don’t restrict the maximum size of USB/SD cards. You could load an unlimited number of photos from your Google Photos account to a USB/SD card and connect it to your Pix-Star frame. You can then play slideshows directly from the connected USB/SD card without having to copy any photos to the frame’s internal storage first.
