Upnp/DLNA Digital Picture Frame

The picture frame terminology

A Upnp / DLNA Digital Photo Frame is a Digital photo frame equipped with WiFi connectivity and some software that makes it possible for the frame to remotely access the content of your devices on the local network including PC, Laptop, NAS server, etc….

Latest generations of Pix-Star Wireless Photo Frame support this feature (model ‘PXT5’ and above).

The protocol used during the transaction is called “Upnp” or “DLNA”. In order for the frame to be able to access the content on the remote folder of the PC, Laptop or NAS server, both must be compatible with Upnp / DLNA.

Most of NAS servers are compatible and PCs equipped with Windows 7 and above support also this Upnp / DLNA sharing feature pretty well. In order to be able to share your pictures from your PC you will need, under windows 7 for instance, to make the corresponding folder “shared”. This requires you to select this property in your PC.

If you have a MAC you will need to install some software as MAC don’t support Upnp natively. A good choice is to use “eyeconnect”. You can download it from the company’s web site.

A Upnp / DLNA photo frame is a great way to share your content over the local network to your photo frame !
