Digital Picture Frames

The picture frame terminology

A digital picture frame is a device about the size and shape of an ordinary photo frame. The difference is that it contains an LCD screen controlled by an electronic board so that it can play pictures from many various sources such as USB memory or cards (SD, MMC, CF, etc…). It can display multiple photos in a slideshow format and can even store them in its internal memory.

Some picture frame can even connect to the internet using various wireless technology they are called Connected Digital photo frames or Wireless digital picture frame or also internet Digital photo frames.

There are different type of wireless picture frames. The most popular is using the home wifi gateway (or wifi ADSL modem also called “wifi box”), they are called Wifi Digital Photo Frame. Some instead use 3G network to remotely access the internet, they are called 3G photo frame. Some other prefer the wireless technology called Bluetooth to easily transfer pictures from a mobile phone or PC on short distance wirelessly to the picture frame, they are called Bluetooth photo frames.

Digital picture frames’ prices range from as low as 50 Euros up to 300 Euros. The cheapest ones are called low cost or Cheap digital photo frames.
